In a project that began before the tragedy in Orlando, Houston Public Media is exploring the aftermath of the 1991 tragic “gay bashing” murder of 27-year-old banker Paul Broussard in Montrose through a documentary and live televised town hall discussion airing during Houston Pride Week on June 23 at 8 p.m. on TV 8 and online. “A Murder in Montrose: The Paul Broussard Legacy” marks the 25th anniversary of this high-profile murder with a look back at how the event sparked major changes in Houston impacting politics, victims’ rights and community activism.

PRIDE AT RESURRECTION MCC Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church always hosts a full slate of events during Pride season. This year is no exception! They are particularly excited about having a guest preacher from New York City coming to deliver a free workshop about the intersection of faith, race, sexuality, and class. We will be hearing about all of the goings on from Rev. Troy Treash, and speaking via telephone with Rev. Rodney McKenzie from New York.

Queer Voices, a weekly radio program on Pacifica radio's Houston affiliate KPFT, is dedicated to broadcasting news, concerns, and events as related to Houston's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (GLBT) community. The goal of Queer Voices is to provide up to date information on the community's concerns that is currently not available from other local media outlets. The show is heard on Pacifica's KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston, Texas on Wednesdays, 8 to 9 pm, Central Time.
